This course is an online course designed for teachers 5-12 who wish to continue to develop their language skills and study French culture and language through French films. Participants will study only four films: Le Petit Nicolas, Belle et Sébastien, Belle et Sébastien 2 : L’aventure continue et Belle et Sébastien 3 :Le dernier chapitre. The films depict children in France in the 20th century. Emphasis will be on vocabulary building, improving conversational and writing skills, reading comprehension, literary analysis, as well as discussions of cultural and historical events of the films ‘contexts. The projected outcome of this course is to provide classroom teachers with the knowledge, understanding, and methodologies needed to enable them to have more engaging students through the use of films in their class. Students relate more to the young protagonists of the films who are close to their age. This course is conducted in French by a native speaker, Dr. Sylvie Pressman.
